How we grow

With living soil, rain, sunshine, and loving attention, we steward our gardens and animals as a part of a whole, interconnected ecosystem, contributing to a well-rounded nutritious soil and diverse array of soil life, which in turn are the building blocks for nutrient-rich foods and medicines. We believe healthy soil is the foundation for healthy communities.

We grow our crops without the use of agricultural herbicides, pesticides, or GMOs, or non-organic fertilizers. and we raise our animals without added hormones and routine antibiotics, all of which degrade the soil biology, and the health of biological systems.

We plant in polycultures, or companion planting guilds, designed for beneficial and supporting relationships between different species. At times we use a plant to attract a pollinator, to distract a pest, to help fix nitrogen, or to provide a living mulch, and often we simply trust folk wisdom, intuition and observation.

We keep honeybee hives to help pollinate our fruiting flowers and we plant a variety of native host plants for other helpful pollinators. We utilize earthworks and catch and store rainwater to ensure that we are conserving one of our most precious resources: fresh water. The result is a garden organism that is productive, supportive, and quite beautiful as well.

And finally, we grow it by hand, and we grow it with love. In a world increasingly processed, centralized, and industrialized, the difference is indisputable.

How to enjoy our harvests

Currently, the bulk of our harvest is shared with our community in tandem with the many different on-farm events, experiences, and courses that we put on. Whether it's a farm to table meal, ingredients for a workshop, or our pop-up farm stand available for scheduled visitors and guests, the best way to experience the harvest is with us on the farm.

We also offer surplus ingredients to local restaurants and markets, and donate our harvest to the Somerset Community Food Pantry.

We do not currently offer open public, farm stand hours but plan to offer days/times in the coming seasons.
